Does stretching your relaxer always equal hair loss?? or breakage??

Lately I've been stretching my relaxer a little longer than the usual 6-8 weeks (I'm presently at 10 weeks) and I've noticed some serious breakage and shedding. This, without a doubt freaked me out and sent me searching for something to remedy the situation. After doing research: reading blogs, hair care websites and finding an over whelming amount of home made treatments, I decided to try one  using ingredients I thought would work for my hair. (ingredients below picture)

Ingredients in bowl: 1 Tb spoon Aloe (raw), 1 Tb spoon Evoo (extra virgin olive oil ), 1 Tb spoon Coconut oil and 1 egg
Ingredients were blended together and 2 table spoon of Vitale olive oil hair mayonnaise was whisked in with a fork.

Also with the help of the countless blogs and websites I decided on an Aphogee Moisturizing Hair Shampoo and Leave-in Conditioner( I didn't find the regular wash out conditioner so i opted for the leave-In ) as well as an Olive Oil Organics Root Stimulator Shampoo,Conditioner and Oil Moisturizer. Both products have great reviews.

Blending all the ingredients together,I applied the mixture to my hair and left it in for about 30 minutes (wearing a plastic cap), I rinsed and shampooed with the Aphogee moisturizing shampoo a couple times then applied the leave in conditioner. After towel drying my hair a bit I added about a quarter sized amount of a Soft &Beautiful Ultimate Style Protect I already had then I blow dried my hair on a low setting.

I have to say I was extremely Impressed and satisfied with the results. I didn't see the amount of breakage I normally saw. And the shedding.. what shedding?? = ) with that said my plan is to use my home made treatment which I went ahead to name " Happy Hair Homemade Treatment" " Triple H-T " for short =D ( man I got jokes! lol) every month in conjunction with the Aphogee products. The weeks when I'm not using the treatment I plan to use the Olive oil organics root stimulator hair products.

I guess here begins my hair journey, I will be sure to post updates with my progress and also share tips and tricks I've picked up along the way, I would love for you guys to learn with me and even share any useful information you may have.

...So to answer the question in this posts' title... No, stretching your perm does not have to equal to hair loss or breakage. Reading the hair blogs and websites led me to the conclution that those weeks and months in between relaxers are very critical.Your hair will need extra attention, moisture and protective hair styles to minimize the breakage which can be caused by a number of  things, such as change in diet, lack of vitamins and even stress. So when your hair starts braking try the process of elimination to get to the root of the problem.Until next time Live,Learn,Grow&Laugh a lot.
